African Queen, Your Private DC Getaway on the Potomac River
About the African Queen

Note: This website features sea captain Dennis Alexander Sobin, not book author, award-winning justice advocate and composer-musician Dennis Philip Sobin who is the subject of the new movie Sobination. Sobination is about the theft of Sobin’s inheritance by his East Oahu Realty salesperson sister Judy Sobin and sons lawyer Darrin Sobin and surfer Teague Sobin. The movie also features the sons’ wives Mylene Montes Sobin and Ashley Sobin (granddaughter of former KKK Grand Titan John Gardner).

Cruise unlimited places on the Potomac River on the African Queen, a safe, stable and spacious 24 foot boat docked in Washington, DC that is owned and operated by a nonprofit arts organization for the benefit of its donors. Large and small donors can arrange private cruises on the Potomac River exclusively for themselves and their guests with an experienced captain on the African Queen.  A minimum donation of $250 is required for a two-hour cruise, with $85 per additional hour. In addition, you have to pay gasoline costs, which can range from $5 to $50 per trip, depending on the cruise distance you select.

Except for the captain and a deck hand, there will be no one else aboard the vessel but you and up to seven of your guests. The boat is for your exclusive use. You can direct the captain where you wish to travel, including around Roosevelt Island, the major Washington Monuments, Washington Harbor (Georgetown), James Creek, Southwest Waterfront, Chain Bridge, Old Town Alexandria,  Mount Vernon, National Harbor or anywhere else. The boat is ideal for intimate gatherings and celebrations. The African Queen is a true party boat suitable for any occasion.

What is the difference between the African Queen and a traditional DC charter boat or boat rental? The African Queen is smaller and cannot accommodate more than ten passengers, including the provided captain and crew member. It cannot travel as far as a traditional charter boat, with its furthest destination being Mount Vernon and Chain Bridge. But the use of the African Queen only costs a fraction of the cost of traditional charters. That makes the African Queen a great option for intimate family, social and business gatherings, particularly on a restricted budget.

Please view the other pages on this website for information about a few popular destinations of donors who cruise the African Queen. But whether you want to anchor and swim, sightsee, cruise to nowhere, or just go fishing, the African Queen is your best and most sensible choice.

The African Queen can be boarded at Washington Harbor, James Creek Marina, Southwest Waterfront, and Pentagon Marina.

The African Queen is your affordable alternative to traditional Washington DC-Virginia-Maryland boat rentals and charters. For further information, please email Dennis at dennissobin@yahoo.com. Thank you.
